FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE RECKLESS KELLY PRESENTS “CHIP OFF
THE OLD BLOCK,” Generations Meet On January 22 To Benefit Musicians’ Foundation Reckless Kelly and a host of other acclaimed Austin musicians will unite with their offspring in a one-of-a-kind concert to benefit the SIMS Foundation. The “Chip Off the Old Block” concert, a musical special event sponsored by 107.1 KGSR, will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22 at the Texas Union Ballroom, upstairs at the Student Union on the U.T. Campus. Tickets are on sale now for $15 and are available at all Texas Box Office locations, at participating HEB grocery stores, at the Erwin Center box office or by phoning 477-6060 or going online to www.texasboxoffice.com. Tickets will also be available at the door the night of the event. The evening will be hosted by Reckless Kelly, whose founding members, brothers Cody and Willy Braun, literally grew up on the road under the musical tutelage of their father, Muzzie Braun. Muzzie will be making a rare visit to Austin to join Cody and Willy, along with their brothers Gary and Micky Braun (of the group Micky and the Motorcars) onstage. Also on hand will be Reckless Kelly drummer Jay Nazz’s brother, Tom Nazziola, Jr., and their father, Tom Nazziola, Sr. That family reunion will set the tone for the evening. Joining the Brauns onstage will be: Nashville singer-songwriter Kevin Welch and his children Dustin and Savannah Welch; Co-founder of the Flatlanders Jimmie Dale Gilmore and his son Colin Gilmore; Grammy nominee Eliza Gilkyson with her children Cisco and Delia; Conni, Traci and Charlene Hancock, known collectively as the Texana Dames; and Lone Star legend Ray Wylie Hubbard with his son Lucas Hubbard. In each case, both parents and offspring are professional musicians, and their collaborations should result in a rich, surprising and multi-faceted evening of personal and musical exchanges. The January 22 show is the first installment of what will hopefully become an annual musical celebration. Proceeds from the evening will
benefit the SIMS Foundation of Austin. Founded in 1995, SIMS is charged
with providing access to low-cost mental health services for Austin-area
musicians and their immediate families (For more information on SIMS, see
www.simsfoundation.org). ### |
