| BIOGRAPHY Led by Tommy Hancock,
the Supernatural Family Band is/was both literally and figuratively a "family"
band. Rotating participants include Texana Dames members (Charlene, Conni and
Traci), Joaquin Hancock, Louie Hancock Morris, Norman Condray, Holli Hancock
Barnett, Marty Hancock, Nastasi Hancock, Zack Morris and Avalon Hancock. Over the years
special guests have ranged from the silly to the celebrity with stints from Jimmie Dale
Gilmore, Butch Hancock and Ponty Bone to anonymous audience members with
a tune in their heart. This band can fake their way through just about any song and
amazingly knows more than you can shake a stick at. Speaking of shaking sticks...on many
of the songs children (of all ages) are invited to be part of the rhythm section by
playing a percussion instrument. All dancing is encouraged. Partners not required.
Like Tommy and Ruth, Holli, Staci, and Jewel (Joaquin's daughter)
get the party rolling on the dance floor. The band LOVES a floorshow,
so dance as silly as you feel.
If you can get with the program and have some fun at a
Supernatural gig, you are automatically adopted into the Family. There's no paper work and
no ID cards to carry, just a special feeling in your heart...and a bumper sticker if you
so desire.
These days the SFB reunions are rare. Charlene, Traci and Conni perform
as the Texana Dames. Joaquin is currently playing
in the band "Deer in the Headlights." Louie has a new dance
band called "Detroit South." Norm is working with
Akashic Recordings
and the Texana Dames. Holli lives in
Lubbock, Texas, sings in her church
choir, and spends a lot of time with Tommy's mother, Ruth. Tommy makes as many parties as possible and is known for supporting live
music. He is featured in the new documentary "Lubbock Lights" and has appeared in other
movies, commercials and a music video. He also wrote the book "Zen and the Art of the Texas Two-Step."
